COME SEE THE NEW BRUNSWICK UPPER SCHOOL

Even a Brunswick “lifer” might get lost in the newly renovated Upper School. Navigating between classes is a whole new experience, as the various Maher Avenue buildings are now connected by glass walkways. In addition, every classroom and hallway got a fresh coat of paint, new rugs and lighting!

Walk down Maher Avenue and where the driveway turned into the parking lot in front of the school, there are now beautiful stone walls, grass and trees. A glassed in entry is the Maher Avenue pedestrian only entrance. Cars proceed around the back of the school and students are dropped off in front of an atrium entrance which serves as a link between the buildings. There is an elevator connecting the varying half levels so the Brunswick Upper School is now fully handicapped accessible – great for those inevitable sports injuries. A wonderful added benefit is being able to stay inside going from class to class, including the dining hall, not dashing through rain, snow and cold (that is until the inevitable walk over to GA.)

The biggest change is the old Burke Gymnasium wing. The former locker room and weight room are art studios with wonderful windows and sky lights. The old gym space is divided between auditorium seating for over 400 and a huge stage with sophisticated lighting and sound capabilities, a black box theater, scene shop and costume room.   Photos will follow...

Stop by the Alumni office for a tour anytime. We are so proud to show off this new and reconfigured space.
