Calendar for College Admissions: Junior Year

October
  • Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test
  • Greenwich HS College Fair

 

 

February
  • College Night for juniors and parents (an invitation will be mailed home)
  • Individual conferences with the College Guidance Office begin.
  • Complete Student Questionnaire
March
  • Spring Break is an excellent time to visit college campuses - but NOT to interview. See campuses, buildings, local environments. Visit a large university, a small campus, a rural school or a city school. Within a short distance, in Connecticut, examples of many types of colleges exist. Use this time to reach some conclusions as to which type of school is most appealing to you.
April
  • Optional (though recommended) college workshops will be held.
  • SAT Reasoning Test
May
  • SAT Reasoning Test
  • AP (Advanced Placement) Exams
  • Internet research on colleges
  • Begin to set up summer interviews.
  • Write to colleges for information and applications.
June
  • SAT  Subject Test
Summer
  • College Visits
    It is best to make every effort to confine such visits to the summer months. Although students will generally be given permission to visit colleges during the fall of the senior year, missing class time during such a critical period is best avoided if at all possible.

September
  • General senior class meeting
  • Individual conferences with College Office 
  • College application list finalized
  • Write and request application materials from all colleges to which you plan to apply.
October
  • ACT - American College Testing Program (only for those students applying to colleges or universities which specifically require this test)
  • SAT Reasoning and SAT Subject
November
  • SAT Reasoning and SAT Subject Tests 
  • Note:  Foreign Language w/ Listening, only offered in November
  • Deadlines for most Early Decision or Early Action application plans
  • TOEFL: we strongly recommend that students for whom English is a second language take the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language)
  • Recommendations and addressed envelopes to teachers writing letters of
    recommendation
December
  • Request to have your official SAT scores sent to all colleges to which you have applied.
  • Candidates who applied under Early Decision or Early Action will be notified of the college's decision.
  • Secondary School report forms to college counselors.
January
  • Deadlines for filing most applications and financial aid forms
  • SAT Reasoning or SAT Subject (optional)
March
  • Final deadlines for filing most applications and financial aid forms
April 15th
  • Final date for receiving notification from colleges which subscribe to the Candidates Notification deadline
May 1st
  • National Candidate Reply Date
    All candidates must reply to their offers of admission by submitting the required tuition deposits. Students may not submit deposits to more than one school. Students should also notify those colleges that they will not be attending.
May
  • AP Exams - Advanced Placement Examinations
